Applications are now open for SOM’s annual Winter Shadowship. The week-long program, from January 4–8, 2027, offers immersive professional experience, mentorship, and guidance to students planning careers in architecture, engineering, urban planning, graphic design, or interior design and who share a passion for advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion in the AEC industry.

As an undergraduate or graduate student in architecture, engineering, or a related design field, you will have the opportunity to learn from some of the best in the business, while gaining hands-on experience through a series of lectures and events led by designers and engineers from multiple cities, departments, and disciplines.

The program will be held in-person across our Chicago, Dubai, London, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C., studios. It is sponsored by SOM’s employee resource groups: Arquitectos, Asian Alliance, NOMA, Pride, and Women’s Initiative.
