AIA Chicago Honors Sany IROOTECH Headquarters Across Three Award Categories

Sany IROOTECH Headquarters in Guangzhou, China received three honors from AIA Chicago, recognizing the project’s architecture, detailing, and public appeal. At Designight 2026, the project received an Honor Award in the Architecture XL category, a Citation of Merit in the Divine Detail category, and the Lerch Bates People’s Choice Award in the Office category.

Designed for Sany’s cloud-technology venture in Guangzhou’s Pazhou business district, the headquarters comprises two interconnected towers organized around an expressive structural system. A diagrid and internal hanging system creates flexible, column-free floor plates and planted terraces, while an elevated podium spans between the towers, opening the ground plane as a public plaza and connecting the headquarters to the surrounding pedestrian network.

Together, the three awards recognize the project across scales and acknowledge its public appeal, from its overall architectural and structural concept to the details that make that system possible.
