Four SOM Projects Honored in the 2024 NYCxDESIGN Awards

Two Manhattan West

The annual NYCxDESIGN Festival highlights a broad coalition of design disciplines in a series of events, installations, and panels across New York City. To kick off the week, four SOM projects were recognized in the 2024 NYCxDESIGN Awards, a program presented by Interior Design magazine that honors projects and products throughout New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.

Designed around hospitality and a 21st century work culture, our renovation of 320 Park Avenue Mutual of America Building won in the Commercial Amenities category. Our renovation brings to life flexible, amenity-rich spaces anchored around a large, previously unused outdoor terrace.

One and Two Manhattan West won the Commercial Lobby category. The two office towers navigate a challenging site above active rail tracks with an integrated structural solution that is distinctly expressed in the architectural design of each lobby.

Lever House and the High Line – Moynihan Connector were both finalists in NYC’s Shining Moment, a category that recognizes a project that is “quintessentially New York” and embodies an aspect of the city’s culture.

The festival week continued with Interior Designer Francesca Portesine participating in Interni magazine’s “Big Italy” panel at the Italian Consulate, while Sustainability Lead Sigal Shemesh discussed designing products for a circular economy with Dezeen and Danish furniture brand Carl Hansen & Søn.
