How can transportation bring new life to a neighborhood?
Since its expansion in 2014, Union Station has become a beacon for development in Denver's Lower Downtown (LoDo) area. Anchored by a historic Beaux Arts building, SOM converted 20 acres of former rail yards into a multi-modal transit district incorporating light rail, commuter and intercity rail, bicycle and bus routes, pedestrian pathways and vibrant new public spaces. We returned to Denver Union Station four years after its transformation to see just how this new hub of activity has impacted the way people interact with this once abandoned section of downtown.
This video features interviews with developers, local community members, and visitors alongside new images of this popular and innovative redevelopment project.
