SOM director Thomas Hussey will present on The 78, a new transit-oriented development, with Michael Pfeffer of Related Midwest. "The Future of the Chicago Skyline: Current Developments in Our City" is a one-day seminar hosted by the Chicago Committee on High Rise Buildings.
In March, 2019 Scott Duncan participated in a design studio jury for a course led by architect Moshe Safdie at Harvard University's Graduate School of Design. The semester-long studio challenged students to imagine design options for The 78, a 62-acre site in Chicago.
On August 8th, 2018, SOM, the Future Leaders Committee of the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH), and Related Midwest will host a panel discussion on The 78. Planners and designers from SOM and Related will share insight on the project to create Chicago's next neighborhood.
The Chicago Tribune reports on Related Midwest's release of plans for The 78. SOM's design for the development conceives of the 62-acre parcel bordering Roosevelt Road, Clark Street, Ping Tom Park, and the Chicago River as a new mixed-use neighborhood.
