Three SOM projects are scheduled to compete in the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) awards program at the 2019 Tall + Urban Innovation Conference. The conference will take place in Shenzhen, China and is hosted by CTBUH.
SOM Director Ame M. Engelhart has been elected to the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Global Governing Trustees, a group that represents the broad membership of the ULI in finding solutions for responsible land use and building thriving communities. Engelhart builds upon more than 30 years of experience for this new role.
On Wednesday, June 6th, SOM Director Ame Engelhart participated in a discussion at the ULI Asia Pacific Summit. The event focused on inequality, segregation, and economic accessibility in cities.
On March 9th, 2018, SOM Director Ame Engelhart will speak at the 7th Annual Vertical Cities conference in Bangkok. The event focuses on methodologies for designing and constructing supertall buildings that promote interaction and community.
On February 7th, 2018, SOM Director Ame Engelhart will moderate a panel discussion for the Urban Land Institute's Women's Leadership Initiative. The event, titled "This Is Not Your Father's Office," centers on a discussion of workplace design.
SOM's Hong Kong office participated in the Coastal Cleanup Challenge, a volunteer event on November 25th, 2017. The group picked up trash found on the Pak Shui Wan beach in the Clear Water Bay area, making a local impact while raising awareness of environmental challenges.
SOM's leadership in skyscraper and urban design will once again be represented at the annual global conference of the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat. This year's event takes place October 30–November 3 in various venues in Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne, Australia.
