The New York Landmark Conservancy has granted Moynihan Train Hall the Lucy G. Moses Preservation Award. The Moses Awards are the Conservancy’s highest honors for excellence in the restoration, preservation, or adaptive use of historic buildings, streetscapes, and landscapes.
The Regional Plan Association, a nonprofit civic organization focused on the New York metropolitan area, has named Moynihan Train Hall as the 2020 Project of the Year. The SOM-designed building transforms rail travel in New York City by adding much-needed capacity to the Penn Station complex and creating a new gateway for the city.
Architizer has recognized SOM in two categories of this year's 2021 A+ Firm Awards. SOM was selected as the winner of the public projects category, and was among the finalists in the sustainability category.

On October 30th, 2019, Brookfield Properties announced the opening of One Manhattan West, a 67-story, 2.1-million-square-foot office tower. One Manhattan West is the first new office tower to open as part of the Manhattan West complex, an eight-acre district being developed on Manhattan's West Side.
On July 16th, 2019, SOM hosted the AIANY Emerging New York Architects Committee as part of the "Beyond the Boards" event series. SOM staff members profiled the firm and design process and presented three current projects.
Manhattan Loft Gardens, New Futura, the Cornell Tech Campus Framework Plan, and Moynihan Train Hall were shortlisted across six categories in the 2019 ABB LEAF Awards. The international award program, now in its 18th year, recognizes design excellence in projects around the world.
On June 1, 2019, Urban Design Practice Leader Keith P. O'Connor and Associate Director Jon Cicconi will join a Future of Design NYC panel titled "New Civic Spaces." O'Connor will moderate the panel, and Cicconi will discuss SOM's Moynihan Train Hall as a case study in civic architecture.
