The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) has elected SOM Director of Strategic Development APAC, Dennis Ho, as a Chartered Fellow of the Institute (FRIBA)—its highest level of professional membership. The honor recognizes senior leaders whose work has made a meaningful impact across practice, education, policy, and the wider profession, reflecting leadership, expertise, and a sustained commitment to advancing architecture.

The RIBA Fellowship Panel noted: “Dennis has demonstrated an exceptional and sustained contribution to architecture that extends well beyond the successful delivery of projects. Through international leadership in sustainable design, significant voluntary service to RIBA and the profession, thought leadership in education and research, combined with a strong commitment to mentoring and innovation, he has made a substantial and measurable contribution to architecture both regionally and internationally.”

Ho’s distinguished career spans global strategic leadership, design practice, and academia. At SOM, he leads strategic development in APAC, advancing the firm’s integrated expertise in design, engineering, sustainability, and planning. He also serves as an Adjunct Professor at City University of Hong Kong. Ho is Immediate-past Chair of the RIBA Hong Kong Chapter and founder of Design_Curate_Places, and holds advisory roles with HKIUD, PGBCHK, and the Hong Kong University Grants Committee. He is a frequent juror for international design awards and speaker at global forums.
