Construction Update: Project Progress in Guangzhou, China

In Guangzhou’s Pazhou district, two construction sites reveal how new developments are shaping not only the skyline, but also the ground level—demonstrating how tall buildings can better engage the public realm.

At the new Sany IROOTECH Headquarters, an elevated podium bridges a pair of towers to create a large public plaza. The space is surrounded by elevated retail, public amenity zones, and gardens, with verdant walkways connecting directly to the adjacent planned park via a skybridge.

Just a few blocks away, 22 meters are carved from the base of the 376-meter Guangzhou Chamber of Commerce tower, creating an open-air “city room” that welcomes visitors arriving via escalator from the city’s transit hub below. Housed within one of the world’s tallest structural glass enclosures, the tower’s lobby provides an elegant backdrop for this civic space and a dynamic arrival point for commuters.
