Designed and created by SOM Chicago’s Urban Design and Planning studio, the Great Lakes, Great Cities, Great Basin exhibit has opened at the Highland Park Public Library, and will be on display through the end of September 2015. This special exhibit, which was created as a public service, focuses on the world’s largest freshwater asset—along with the environmental restoration and economic renewal of the cities and ecosystem around it.
Special events in conjunction with the exhibit include: a presentation on Saturday, September 19, by Philip Enquist, SOM Partner in Charge of Urban Design and Planning, who has presented the firm’s Great Lakes Century Vision in cities around the world; and a community panel discussion on Sunday, September 20, with local experts and Paul O’Connor, SOM Senior Advisor and Urban Strategist in the firm’s global City Design Practice.
