Rivian has shared new plans and renderings for its SOM-designed manufacturing campus outside Atlanta, now under construction by Clayco. The nearly 2,000-acre development is designed to bridge the bustling interstate highway to the natural woodland landscape—bringing manufacturing, recreation, and verdant open space together across the campus.
The site plan concentrates the primary manufacturing facilities on the northeastern side of the property while preserving approximately 1,000 acres—more than half of the site—as woodland to the south and west. A potential future network of recreational trails would connect a treehouse, bird-watching posts, stargazing area, picnic and camping grounds, and timber bridges crossing detention ponds.
Positioned between the manufacturing campus and the public landscape, a two-story glass pavilion beneath a deep timber canopy creates a home for central services. Set within native meadow planting, the mass-timber building welcomes visitors to the campus and echoes the character of Rivian’s existing corporate headquarters and brand.
At the heart of the manufacturing campus, stamping, body, paint, and general assembly facilities will be supported by automated storage and retrieval systems. The first phase of the planned public-facing program includes an approximately 40,000-square-foot service, delivery, and Rivian Adventure Network fast-charging center with a viewing pavilion. A second phase would expand the adventure track into a full driving experience, with terraced spectator seating and a 6,000-square-foot building with a restaurant, vehicle display lounge, and classroom. The final phase would add canvas-tent campsites, EV-equipped eco-cabins, and a 13,000-square-foot museum.
Excavation is now underway for the foundations of two stamping presses within the stamping building, with the primary factory buildings expected to be enclosed in 2027 and vehicle production planned to begin in 2028.
