LAX Airport Police Facility wins AIA National Justice Facilities Design Award

LAX Airport Police Facility

At the AIA 2026 Conference on Architecture & Design in San Diego this week, the LAX Airport Police Facility received a 2026 Justice Facilities Design Award. This program recognizes best practices in design, quality of form, and functionality for buildings that directly support the justice system.

The LAX Airport Police Facility creates a new headquarters for the world’s largest police agency dedicated to airport safety and security, consolidating nine dispersed sites into a single, state-of-the-art building supporting 1,100 officers. Nestled within the coastal dunes, the design embraces the site’s natural topography by blending its scale into the natural habitat. The new 9,000 square-foot facility serves as a training facility, gathering place, and venue for special events, designed to support the well-being of the officers as well as strengthen the sense of community within the department and the surrounding neighborhoods.
