Cast Your Votes! SOM Selected Finalists For Three Architizer A+ Awards

SOM has been selected as a finalist for three Architizer A+ Awards categories this year. As a firm, SOM has been selected as one of five finalists in the Best Sustainable Firm category. Through the firm’s built projects, research initiatives, and as an advocate in the industry and beyond, SOM is working to accelerate the transition to a net zero carbon built environment. Last year, SOM became a net-zero emissions business–achieved by reducing emissions across every area of our practice, with carbon offsets. SOM’s recognized portfolio of work included Urban Sequoia, University of California, Merced2020 Campus Expansion, Wellesley College Science Complex, San Mateo County Office Building 3, Wild Mile, and our New York studio.

800 Fulton Market

In Chicago’s rapidly evolving West Loop, 800 Fulton Market reimagines the workplace with a modernized, highly integrated building. With a series of setbacks and landscaped terraces, the 19-story design is carefully proportioned to relate to the rhythm and scale of the Fulton Market District’s historic low-rise streetscape, while connecting to the higher-density commercial district to the north. The workplace has has been selected as a finalist in the Commercial High Rise category.

The National Museum of the United States Army has been selected as a finalist in the Architecture Photography and Video category. As a center of education, the museum is the first to tell the story of the oldest branch of the U.S. military.
