SOM is proud to announce the design of a new transit-oriented development in New Taipei City’s Xindian district. The mixed-use project will transform the area into a vibrant neighborhood with integrated residential living, Class-A commercial office space, and retail and entertainment—connecting to transit and embedded within a lush network of landscaped spaces that extend the area’s natural ecology.
Anchored by the Shisizhang Metro Station at the nexus of New Taipei Metro’s Circular Line with direct access to the Shuiyuan Ring Expressway and the National Highway, this new, 800,000-square-meter development is organized around a network of pedestrian pathways and landscaped public spaces inspired by the ecology of the nearby Xindian River. These connections create a multi-level urban experience with retail, dining, outdoor pop-up retail, and other programmed activities along a 24/7 public promenade that links the east and west sides of the site.
Built above the ground-level train depot, the project establishes a new pedestrian-centric ground plane defined by a civic-scaled arrival plaza that draws the public upwards from the train station. A dedicated retail building and pedestrian bridge link the development to the urban context to the east, while extending pedestrian connections to the Xiulang Qingxi Riverside Park to the west, and an extensive new public park to the north.
Positioned at the western edge of the site, the commercial podium delivers flexible, Class-A office floorplates with panoramic views of the Xindian River and Taipei 101. The design prioritizes occupant well-being through river-facing terraces and a central lightwell, which reduces lease depths to draw natural light deep into the building’s core.
Rising above the commercial office podium, high-end residential towers feature premium views of the Xindian River and the Taipei skyline, with recessed balconies that maximize the vertical proportions of the development and provide outdoor spaces for natural ventilation. In the eastern end of the site, additional residential towers are anchored by a rooftop residential park, and complemented by amenities including a large swimming pool, children’s play areas, observation decks, and a pedestrian trail.
