Coalescing health and wellness

The Good Samaritan Hospital Master Plan sets forth a new vision for a health-centered district in the heart of West Palm Beach, Florida. In collaboration with Easton Street Capital and Tenet Healthcare, SOM created a comprehensive framework for a mixed-use development organized around health, wellness, and longevity.

Rather than a single-purpose medical campus, the plan integrates healthcare, residences, and supportive amenities to create a health-centered urban community. The development includes the relocation of the existing Good Samaritan Hospital as well as new luxury condominiums, rentals, retail, and a hotel.

Reimagining a community hospital

At the core of the master plan is a new campus for Good Samaritan Hospital. The project presents an opportunity to uplift the existing facility, built in 1920, into a state-of-the-art medical center that anchors and catalyzes mixed-use growth. As Master Architect, SOM led the master planning as well as the programming and concept design for the hospital.

The new hospital is envisioned as an open, community-facing institution with its entrance oriented toward the community and future development. The design supports advanced clinical care, while helping to define a new model for health and wellness in downtown West Palm Beach.
