On Thursday, March 30th, SOM’s Chicago office will host an event organized by the Chicago Chapter of the International Building Performance Simulation Association. During the event, SOM Associate Neil Katz will deliver a presentation on the firm’s use of computational design strategies for environmental simulation. An advocate for the use of digital design in large-scale projects, Katz uses computational design tools to realize complex schemes for buildings around the world.
Katz will shed light on his use of simulations of shadow analysis, solar irradiation, and daylighting, as well as their practical applications in architectural design. Through a variety of case studies, he will explore digital tools available to architects, and provide strategies, solutions, and best practices for the application of visualizing techniques during the design process.
