SOM Presents Seven Case Studies at 2019 AEI Conference

Nine SOM architects and engineers will present seven case studies at the AEI Conference in Tysons, Virginia. The conference, now in its eighth year, is hosted by the Architectural Engineering Institute and Penn State University. Each year, the conference features panel discussions and presentations on construction, engineering, and architecture. The theme for the 2019 conference—which runs from Wednesday, April 3rd through Saturday, April 6th—is “Integrated Building Solutions: The National Agenda.”

On Thursday, April 4th, SOM Mechanical Engineer Stephen Ray will present a case study on the Bank of Beijing Headquarters and the integration of early-stage pedestrian comfort modelling; SOM Associate Director Peter Glasson will present on Denver Union Station; and SOM Associate Director Rupa Garai will speak about mass-timber structures.

On Friday, April 5th, SOM Associate Directors Georgi Petrov and Preetam Biswas will present on the Shum Yip tower at the Shen Ye Upperhills Mixed-Use Development; SOM Structural and Seismic Engineering Partner Mark Sarkisian will speak about 111 Main; and SOM Associate Directors Thierry Landis and Preetam Biswas and Associate Raymond Sweeney will present on the U.S. Air Force Academy’s Center for Character & Leadership Development.
