Shenzhen Rural Commercial Bank Headquarters was the Popular Choice Winner in the Concepts – Architecture + Sustainability category. Located on the edge of a public park in one of Shenzhen’s key business districts, Shenzhen Rural Commercial Bank Headquarters responds to the region’s tropical climate through a series of biophilic and sustainable design solutions, including its external diagrid shading system, operable louvers in the vertical atria and mechanized window vents that allow the building to “breathe.”
The Permanent Mission of the United Arab Emirates to the United Nations was a finalist in the Institutional – Government & Civic Buildings category. The Permanent Mission is designed to harmonize with New York’s architectural past, while also reflecting the identity of the UAE and the traditions of Middle Eastern hospitality.
