SOM Expands Partnership with NOMA

SOM and NOMA logos

Building on its ongoing support of the National Organization for Minority Architects (NOMA), SOM has expanded its partnership with the organization, through a shared commitment to advancing and empowering NOMA members and bolstering their initiatives.

As a part of SOM and NOMA’s expanded partnership, SOM will create dedicated annual summer internship positions across its U.S. studios for NOMA student members. Additionally, students will be able to connect with SOM NOMA members for additional mentorship opportunities including 1:1 mentoring sessions, studio tours and project site visits. SOM will continue its 3-year sponsorship of NOMA’s annual Barbara G. Laurie Student Design Competition, which showcases the work of NOMA Student chapters from across the country, challenging them to respond to urgent social justice and environmental issues with equity-focused design solutions.

2021 marks NOMA’s 50th year of empowering designers and communities of color through outreach, advocacy, professional development and design excellence. To advance NOMA and SOM’s shared mission to bring meaningful change to our industry, we are excited to continue our support of NOMA and to elevate the next generation of designers.
