SOM Co-Hosts Life Safety Design in Denser Downtown San Francisco Forum

On Thursday, June 2nd, building and safety experts will assemble at SOM’s San Francisco office for a forum called “Life Safety Design in Denser Downtown San Francisco.” SOM Associate Director Maurice Hamilton will moderate the panel discussion while Technical Partner Keith Boswell will deliver the welcome.?

The forum furthers a discussion that took place at the recent US-China Tall Buildings symposium. It will explore ways that the building industry should respond to the public perception of increased safety risks brought about by the higher-density, transit-oriented development of the city’s downtown.?? Co-organized by the San Francisco Chapter of the American Institute of Architects and SOM, the panel will exchange the latest ideas on life safety design in high-density urban environment among San Francisco’s building department, fire department, and industry professionals.
