SOM Associate Director Scott Habjan will chair the 2015 AIA/AAH Healthcare Design Awards jury. Organized by the American Institute of Architects and the Academy of Architecture for Health, the annual program recognizes exceptional healthcare building design.
According to the awards brief, the AIA/AAH Healthcare Design Awards “highlight the trends of healthcare facilities and the future direction of these facilities.” Winning projects “exhibit conceptual strength that solve aesthetic, civic, urban, and social concerns as well as the requisite functional and sustainability concerns of a hospital.”
With more than 20 years of experience, Habjan is a recognized expert in healthcare design. He has extensive project experience that includes work on award-winning projects such as the Sheikh Khalifa Medical City in Abu Dhabi, the North Shore-LIJ Katz Women’s Hospital in New York, and the Mount Sinai Hess Center for Science and Medicine, also located in New York City. The Hess Center for Science and Medicine, a translational research building that integrates researchers, clinicians, and patients, was a recipient of the 2014 AIA/AAH Healthcare Design Award.
