An interview with SOM's Gareth Edwards is included in To Build a City in Africa: A History and A Manual. With case studies and essays written by a number of authors, the book provides a historical overview and critical analysis of contemporary urbanization in Africa.
SOM was recently awarded two new urban planning commissions in sub-Saharan Africa. Located in Nigeria and Kenya, the projects bring SOM's city design expertise to areas that are undergoing significant urban growth.
