SOM took home two awards during the AIA International 2021 Design Awards ceremony during the AIA 2022 Conference in Chicago on June 24, 2022. In its eighth year for the AIA International Design Awards, the program recognizes the ability of outstanding architecture to inspire our fellow practitioners, governments and the public throughout the AIA International and the world. 

Poly International Plaza took home the Merit Award for Open International | Architecture. With a faceted form inspired by traditional Chinese paper lanterns, Poly International Plaza was envisioned by the China Poly Group as a landmark for the emerging Dawangjing district, a new hub for global business.

The Nanhu New Country Village Master Plan won an Honor Award in Urban Design. The master plan furthers the nation’s farm-reform goals, bringing a modern approach to integrating agriculture and urban development into a village setting. The design consolidates and reorganizes farms so that the new village can increase in density without putting additional stress on farmland.
