Partner Kenneth A. Lewis Named to Wallpaper* USA 400

SOM New York Office Forum

We are honored to recognize Partner Kenneth A.  Lewis, AIA‘s inclusion in the Wallpaper* USA 400, an annual list of the top “legends and trailblazers” shaping creativity in America.

Throughout his career building in New York and beyond, Lewis has realized projects that inspire, enhance the public realm, and cement the city as a place where the most daring, complex ideas can be built. Among his most notable work is the complete transformation of the Waldorf Astoria New York, one of the most significant restoration, renovation, and adaptive-reuse projects in the city’s history.

As Wallpaper’s Sarah Archer writes: “The Waldorf has a complex origin story rooted in both the Gilded Age and the Machine Age, but thanks to a deft reimagining and exquisite restoration led by SOM, its newest incarnation, after a decade-long restoration effort, is at once reverent of its heritage and attentive to the realities of travel, city living and hospitality in a changing world.”

Lewis has played a pivotal role in reshaping the New York City skyline with projects like One World Trade Center, 7 World Trade Center, Deutsche Bank Center, 35 Hudson Yards, and Manhattan West.
