Chris Cooper Speaks at 92Y City of Tomorrow Summit

On Friday, March 15th, SOM Design Partner Chris Cooper spoke at City of Tomorrow, a real estate, architecture, and design summit at the 92nd Street Y (92Y) in New York. On a panel titled “Designing for Resiliency and the Transcendent in a Mega Urban World,” Cooper discussed the future of architecture and design in New York City.

How can we practice resilient design while striving to accommodate a rapidly expanding population? How can new development be both forward-thinking and sensitive to the historical context of a neighborhood, as well as the city at large? Cooper shared insight on these and other questions in a discussion with Annabelle Selldorf of Selldorf Architects; Rafael Viñoly of Rafael Viñoly Architects; and Daniel Sundlin of Bjarke Ingles Group. Carl Swanson, Editor at Large at New York magazine, moderated the panel.

92Y’s third annual City of Tomorrow is a two-day symposium that unites key players and innovators in architecture, real estate, and interior design. Through a series of interactive workshops and panel discussions, participants explore relevant topics and questions about the future of our cities, with a focus on New York.
