On Monday, November 6th, SOM Associate Director Arathi Gowda will join a panel discussion on the role of energy modeling in the architecture and engineering industries. The panel is hosted by the Chicago chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA Chicago). As part of the AIA 2030 Commitment, the event centers on a discussion of the potential for the expanded use of energy modeling in designing the built environment. Gowda will be joined on the panel by Scott Farbman, AIA Chicago 2030 Working Group; Shona O’Dea, DLR Group; and Tommy Zakrzewski, HKS, Inc.
A sustainable design specialist at SOM, Gowda is responsible for developing and implementing environmental best practices throughout all phases of a project. She focuses on helping project teams realize integrated design solutions that consider the impact of the built environment at multiple scales, from infrastructure to the embodied energy of building materials.
