Healthcare Practice Leader Anthony Treu sat down with Healthcare Design magazine to discuss how evolving care strategies are reshaping the future of cancer center design.
At Winship Cancer Institute at Emory Midtown—the only NCI-designated Comprehensive Care Center in Georgia—our design redefines care by prioritizing both patient and provider experiences, moving beyond conventional layouts and incorporating new operational efficiencies for more effective care delivery. Key to this model is the creation of “care communities,” tailored to specific cancer types, which streamline treatment delivery and provide a more supportive environment for patients.

In the article, Treu shares how this patient-centered model results in spaces that “promote a sense of progress, hope, and everyday life, with attention on patient flow, privacy, biophilia, and comfort to better support patients.”
This people-first philosophy extends across our healthcare portfolio, from a next-generation healthcare campus at Roper Hospital in South Carolina to the state-of-the art Public Health Laboratory in New York City.
