Ame Engelhart Among Featured Panelists at Upcoming Asian Cities Symposium

SOM Associate Ame Engelhart will be a featured speaker at the Asian Cities Symposium, organized by the American Institute of Architects International Region & Hong Kong Chapter. The event, which will take place on September 22 in Hong Kong, will explore how cities across Asia, known for their high density and verticality, can also function as affordable, sustainable, and livable communities.

The day-long symposium is designed to continue the conversation sparked by a recent AIA exhibition in New York titled “Practical Utopias: Global Urbanism in Hong Kong, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore, and Tokyo.” Panels and talks will engage issues such as the role of the street, preservation of historic buildings, and how architects can design spaces that both fit within the existing urban fabric of these five Asian cities and accommodate future generations. Engelhart will lead a panel titled “Building Scale Urbanism.”
