A director in SOM’s New York office, Peter Lefkovits is a designer with significant experience leading projects around the world. He has worked in India, the Middle East, East Asia, South East Asia, and the United States. Lefkovits’ portfolio includes mixed-use developments, residential and hospitality projects, commercial office buildings, and airport terminals.
Lefkovits has developed expertise in the aviation sector, and has led the design and implementation of two of SOM’s award-winning airport terminal designs: Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, Terminal 2 in Mumbai, and Kempegowda International Airport Terminal 2 in Bengaluru. The conceptual framework for these complex facilities grew out of Lefkovits’ interest in the synthesis of architecture, structure, and environmental design. This design approach is the foundation of his aviation facility work, but has also influenced his design of many other building types.
Lefkovits has played a significant role in the development of SOM's strong niche practice in India. He has designed numerous projects in the country, including The Park Hotel in Hyderabad and Godrej BKC, a state-of-the-art commercial building in Mumbai. In his work, his driving goals are to contribute to the architecture of India in a meaningful way and to forge close professional relationships with clients in the region. Lefkovits is committed to designing innovative projects influenced by the culture of the region, collaboration with artists, and sensitivity to local environmental and social issues.
