On Wednesday, October 3rd, a short film by SOM, titled South L.A. Economic Regeneration, will be shown at the Architecture & Design Festival’s (ADFF) Short Films Walk in New York. For this year’s event, the ADFF has curated a selection of short films about architecture and design that will be screened at 12 showrooms in the SoHo district. Each participating showroom on the walk screens a 15-minute loop of films throughout the evening.
SOM launched its RegenCities initiative in 2016 to explore and further define the idea of “regenerative cities”—a concept of sustainable urban development built on a restorative relationship with the environment. The seven-minute South L.A. Economic Regeneration video, scheduled to be screened at the Luceplan showroom, is part of a multi-phased approach to developing regeneration strategies for the City of Los Angeles.
The ADFF celebrates the creative spirit behind architecture and design. Through film screenings, panels, and related events, the festival aims to entertain, engage, and educate attendees. Now in its tenth year, it has grown into the nation’s largest film festival devoted to the subject.
