Union Carbide Corporation Headquarters

New York, New York

Completed as the headquarters for the Union Carbide Corporation in 1960, the 52-story office building is a contemporary of One Chase Manhattan Plaza, and is set back in a plaza, unlike its neighbors on Park Avenue. Of particular note is the structural engineering design, which responded to the constraints of a building site located over the railroad tracks leading north out of Grand Central Station.
