The rehabilitation of the long-vacant Cook County Hospital has revived the 1914 Beaux-Arts building and its surrounding district in Chicago's Near West Side. The SOM-led design-build team carefully restored, and adapted the former hospital building to meet the changing needs of the neighborhood.
Created in 2020, the Robert L. Wesley Award supports BIPOC undergraduate students enrolled in architecture, landscape architecture, urban design, or structural engineering programs across the U.S. The $10,000 award, given to three students, is an unrestricted scholarship that aims to support academic development. The award honors Robert L. Wesley, the first black partner at SOM.
The Billie Jean King Main Library has been honored with a 2020 AIA/ALA Library Building Award by the American Institute of Architects and American Library Association. The prestigious awards program Given to just four libraries this year, is the only one to recognize entire library structures and all aspects of their design.

Tianjin CTF Finance Center Wins Multiple Categories in RICS China Award and CREDAWARD Programs
Tianjin CTF Finance Centre has been recognized with a total of four awards in the RICS China Awards and CREDAWARD programs. The project, a 530-meter-tall mixed-use tower in China's Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area (TEDA), received awards in Best BIM Application and other categories.
The Structural Engineers Association of Southern California (SEAOSC) has named the Billie Jean King Main Library in Long Beach, California, a 2020 Award of Merit winner. Awarded projects demonstrate outstanding achievement and excellence in structural engineering.
The Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE) in London has named "Manhattan Loft Gardens, London: Balancing Design and Constructability" as the 2020 Murray Buxton Award recipient.
