William F. Baker to Speak at Engineering and Architecture Seminar in Belgium

William F. Baker, SOM Structural and Civil Engineering Partner, will speak at the 2015 Design Methods, Graphic Statics, and Parametric Approaches Seminar, hosted by the Université catholique de Louvain in Belgium. The seminar, organized by the Faculty of Architecture, Architectural Engineering, and Urbanism, will bring together international engineering and architecture experts to discuss advancements and issues related to these topics.

On February 5, 2015, Baker will deliver a keynote lecture, titled “Architecture and Structures in the Computational Age,” which will explore contemporary architecture projects, the structural and functional inefficiencies they often exhibit, and the ethical dilemmas this paradox creates. The following day, Baker will deliver “Geometry and the Design of Structures,” a smaller talk that is part of the general seminar program.
