William F. Baker in The Engineers on BBC World Service

SOM Structural and Civil Engineering Partner William F. Baker recently participated in a panel discussion at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London as a part of its annual Engineering Season. The event was hosted and broadcast by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) World Service in partnership with the Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851.

Titled “The Engineers,” the discussion was hosted by Razia Iqbal, BBC Correspondent, and included three of the world’s leading engineers. Baker was joined by Michel Virlogeux, the engineer behind the Millau Viaduct, and Ilya Espino de Marotta, Chief Engineer of the Panama Canal expansion. The trio discussed the complexities and innovations, as well as the impact and responsibility, of their projects.
