Our Weiyuan Island Master Plan has received a Merit Award in the Professional – Planned Project category at the Hong Kong Institute of Urban Design’s Greater Bay Area (GBA) Urban Design Awards.
Located at the gateway to the Pearl River Delta, in Dongguan, China, Weiyuan Island is a historically significant site with a distinctive landscape and development character. The 19.6-square-kilometer master plan envisions the transformation of the island into a resilient, transit-oriented, and ecologically integrated innovation community—bringing together research, education, high-quality housing, culture, and public amenities.

The plan reinforces the island’s riverfront heritage and introduces unique development features such as the Tidal Innovation Park and the restoration of Minjie Village. A network of landscape systems reconnects Weiyuan Mountain to the waterfront through ecological corridors designed to integrate with adjacent developments and celebrate the island’s natural identity. The GBA Urban Design Awards elevate the urban design standard in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
