SOM to Host Event Celebrating 50th Anniversary of the Chicago Architecture Foundation

On Saturday, April 16th, the Chicago Architecture Foundation (CAF) will mark its 50th anniversary. Since 1966, the CAF has been a pillar of the Chicago architecture community, having played host to countless groundbreaking events, discussions, and exhibitions for design professionals and the public. Located in the same building on Michigan Avenue in Chicago, CAF and SOM have partnered to mark a half-century of architectural discourse by hosting an open house and panel discussion.

At the free event, SOM will open its Chicago offices to the public, offering tours of models, recent work, and a selection of never-before-seen materials from the firm’s archive, including drawings of some of the firm’s earliest projects in 1936. At 12:30 p.m., SOM Partner in Charge of Urban Design and Planning Philip Enquist will participate in a panel led by CAF President & CEO, Lynn Osmond, with panelists from Chicago-based firms Goettsch Partners and VOA Associates.
