The newly published ASHRAE Design Guide for Tall, Supertall, and Megatall Building Systems features contributions from Luke Leung, SOM Director of Sustainable Engineering, and Stephen Ray, SOM Mechanical Engineering Professional. While chairing the ASHRAE Tall Buildings Technical Committee 9.12, Leung “masterminded the revision and production” of the book, according to its author, Peter Simmonds.
Published by ASHRAE, an organization that advances sustainable technology for the built environment, the book is co-sponsored by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH). It expands upon a previous edition from 2004 to cover not only tall buildings (defined as over 300 feet), but also supertall (over 984 feet) and megatall (over 1,968 feet) structures.
