SOM’s newly constructed San Bernardino Justice Center won the 2014 Award of Merit from the Structural Engineers Association of Northern California (SEAONC). The San Bernarndino Justice Center was honored during an awards dinner on May 6, 2014, in San Francisco.
The San Bernardino Justice Center (SBJC) opened this month and is one of the tallest base isolated buildings in the US and the tallest building in San Bernardino County. The new center complements the city’s historic courthouse with a flexible, modern and sustainable center for justice that will meet the needs of the Superior Court for future generations. The awarding body, SEAONC, is the regional Northern California chapter of the statewide professional organization for Structural Engineers. Each year, recognition is given to SEAONC Members and their firms that have demonstrated outstanding achievement and excellence in structural engineering practice and project work.
The awarded projects and their recipients serve as models of excellence in structural engineering representing Northern California Structural Engineers. Founded in 1930, SEAONC is committed to advancing the art and science of structural engineering.
