At the beginning of each year, the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) releases a report examining every building measuring 200 meters or taller completed during the previous year. The 2017 CTBUH Year in Review features five SOM projects.
In July, 2017, SOM's Shanghai office hosted a group of visiting architects as part of an exchange program organized by the Japan Institute of Architects and AIA Shanghai. SOM's Silas Chiow led participants on a tour of three projects designed by the firm.
On June 28th, 2016, 50 members of AIA Shanghai toured the construction site of White Magnolia Plaza. SOM's Eric Tomich and Jaan Johnson spoke about the design and engineering challenges involved in the mixed-use project, which includes the tallest tower in Shanghai's Puxi area.
In a roundup of projects that are shaping the future of Shanghai's iconic riverfront, Architectural Record features SOM’s White Magnolia Plaza. Two towers crown the mixed-use complex, with the taller, 319.5-meter building scheduled to top out this September.
