Structural Partner Eric Long and Senior Associate Principal Carol Ann Ruiz recently spoke on a keynote panel, “Casting Culture: A Geffen Vision,” sharing their insights and experiences from their work on the David Geffen Galleries at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

The panel was part of an annual symposium hosted by the University of Southern California (USC) Construction Management Association of America’s (CMAA) Student Chapter, a student-run organization promoting professionalism and excellence in the management of the construction process.

Speaking alongside colleagues from LACMA and  Clark Construction, the panel at USC CMAA’s 30th Annual Emami Symposium focused on the structural challenges of spanning Wilshire Boulevard, highlights from collaborating with architect Peter Zumthor, and perspectives on sustainability and cutting-edge technology in architectural design. The symposium offered the opportunity to reflect on SOM’s exciting work with LACMA and the impact its transformation has on the city’s cultural landscape and the art world as a whole.
