Ian Kaminski-Coughlin to Speak on SMPS Chicago Panel on the Transformation of Cook County Hospital

On May 12 at 12 p.m. CT, Associate Ian Kaminski-Coughlin will be joining the Society of Marketing Professionals (SMPS) Chicago’s Panel, “Second Act: The Transformation of Old Cook County Hospital”. Along with the other panelists, Kaminski-Coughlin will be sharing the story behind the redevelopment of the massive Cook County Hospital building and the steps taken to give the Chicago landmark new life as a hotel, medical office, food hall, and venue to serve the needs of the surrounding community.

Built in 1914, the Cook County Hospital building was at one time one of the largest hospitals in the world and was the center of the Illinois Medical District. The neoclassical Beaux-Arts style architecture, as well as the many medical discoveries that were made at the hospital, made it a world-renowned landmark. Closed in 2002 when the new John H. Stroger Hospital opened, the hospital stayed vacant for nearly 20 years before undergoing an extensive renovation and transformation to bring life back to this once vibrant building.
