Hangzhou GT Land Jumeirah has received the 2021 Award of Excellence by the Structural Engineers Association of Northern California (SEAONC). Awards were announced during SEAONC’s Annual Awards Virtual Event on May 4, 2021. The SEAONC Awards recognize firms and projects for demonstrating outstanding achievements and models of excellence in structural engineering.
Hangzhou GT Land Jumeirah is a mixed-use, seven-star hotel, retail, residential, and office development located in the emerging central business district of Hangzhou in China. The 403,028-m2 project is made of three programmatically connected building structures. A 43-story hotel and office building, a 26-story residential building, and a seven-story retail podium. The buildings extend over a 37-hectare site, separated from each other by seismic movement joints above grade. Below grade, all three buildings share a common three-story deep basement that extends over the entire site.
Responding to the mixed-use hotel, residential, and office program, the structure of the Hotel/Office tower incorporates through-slots that separate different program areas and admit light, cantilevered functional spaces, and multiple offset cores. As a SEAONC Award of Excellence recipient, Hangzhou GT Land Jumeirah will be considered in the Structural Engineers Association of California’s statewide competition.
