SOM’s Los Angeles Bus Shelter Program has been recognized with a 2025 AIA Los Angeles Design Award, celebrating its innovative, climate-responsive approach to public infrastructure. Designed to bring comfort, shade and dignity to transit riders across the city, the project exemplifies how thoughtful design can advance equity and resilience in Los Angeles’s public realm.

The program was also celebrated in Monocle’s magazine’s “Top 20 Thrilling Design Discoveries to Experience Now,” highlighting its modular design and its role in reimagining urban infrastructure. 

These recognitions affirm how design can transform the most ordinary urban spaces into essential, enduring parts of the city’s civic life.
