Matthew Boyd Joins as Chief Information Officer

SOM welcomes Matthew Boyd as Chief Information Officer (CIO). A seasoned IT and cybersecurity leader with more than 20 years of experience driving digital transformation, modernizing infrastructure, and enhancing enterprise security for global organizations, Boyd co-leads our Office of Technology, providing executive direction and strategic leadership to enhance the digital operations of the firm.

Partnering closely with Chief Design Technology Officer Shane Burger, Boyd will help implement new solutions for bringing together the best of innovation and operational leadership. Boyd oversees SOM’s IT systems, establishing key priorities and managing the firm’s technology budget over a multi-year horizon. He ensures business continuity in SOM’s digital software, administers the firm’s security practices and compliance, and works to mentor and cultivate future leaders.

Boyd specializes in aligning technology strategy with business goals, managing large-scale infrastructure projects, and deploying AI-driven solutions to create a more efficient workflow. Throughout his career, he has led high-performing technology and engineering teams in the clean energy, sustainability, education, and tech sectors. His technical accomplishments include leading SOC2 Type II compliance and enabling major data infrastructure deployments for companies including Meta and Sila Nanotechnologies. Driving operational efficiency, he champions AI-powered productivity tools.
