The Billie Jean King Main Library was honored at the 17th Annual Sustainable Innovation Awards on Wednesday, December 8 in Los Angeles. The project took home an Honor Award in the Health & Well-Being category and received the distinguished Project of the Year Award. “We are honored to accept the Project of the Year Award for the Billie Jean King Main Library,” said Managing Principal Jed Zimmerman, “The collaboration with the City of Long Beach made it possible to design a beautiful and dynamic structure of heavy timber, that is rooted in sustainability and now LEED Platinum certified.” The library is part of the Long Beach Civic Center Master Plan, along with a new City Hall and Port of Long Beach Headquarters.
