One World Trade Center, the tallest building in the United States, is one of four regional winners in the Best Tall Building Awards, a competition held annually by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH). A panel of judges weighed the contributions of a record 123 entrants this year to select winners in four regions: Asia and Australia, the Middle East and Africa, the Americas, and Europe.
The record entrant pool, up 40 percent from 2014, likely reflects both the expanding reach of the CTBUH, which has established chapters in countries around the world, and a strengthening economy in parts of the world hit hard by the Great Recession.
