Sea-Tac Project Part of Seattle Architecture Foundation’s Annual Architectural Model Exhibit

A model of the expanded International Arrivals Facility at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (Sea-Tac) will be featured in “Resurgence: The 20th Annual Architectural Model Exhibit.” An opening reception for the exhibit, which is organized by the Seattle Architecture Foundation, will take place on Wednesday, September 13th. The show will be open to the public from September 14th to November 18th.

Now in its twentieth year, the annual model exhibit is an opportunity for local architects and designers to connect and share their work with the Seattle community. “In a time of intense cultural and social change,” writes the Seattle Architecture Foundation on its website, “‘Resurgence’ challenges designers to explore the ways in which their work intersects with the growth of grassroots and community movements, the changing conceptions of what cities can be and do, and renewed interest in formerly neglected places, spaces, and ideas.” ?

SOM is the lead designer and architect of record for the expanded International Arrivals Facility at Sea-Tac, a multilevel, 450,000-square-foot space scheduled for completion in 2019. The efficiency and design of this new international corridor will allow the airport to serve an increased number of international flights and passengers each day, doubling Sea-Tac’s capacity over the next 25 years. ?
