On Thursday, June 29th, SOM Associate Director Sergio Sadaba will present as a part of “Transformative Visions for Smarter Buildings & Strengthened Neighborhoods,” a half-day conference hosted by the Illinois chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council and AIA Chicago. Sadaba will lead a presentation on SOM’s Pertamina Energy Tower in Jakarta, the world’s first supertall tower for which energy is the primary design driver. With an anticipated completion date of 2020, the tower and adjacent campus are targeting net-zero-energy.
The conference provides an opportunity for leading firms to present projects that aim to provide transformative visions for resilience and carbon drawdown in fast-growing urban centers. In addition to Sadaba, representatives from Studio Gang, Rafael Viñoly Architects, PORT Urbanism, and other firms will present. Matthew Messner, Midwest Editor of The Architect’s Newspaper, will moderate the event.
