Luke Leung, SOM Director of Sustainable Engineering, will speak at the 2017 American Institute of Architects (AIA) Conference on Architecture. The annual event draws leaders from across the industry. Held from April 27-29 in Orlando, Florida, the 2017 conference will include a keynote presentation by 2016 Pritzker Prize-winning architect Alejandro Aravena.
On Friday, April 28th, Leung will participate in a panel discussion titled “Urban vs. Suburban: What’s Truly Sustainable?” Panelists will discuss the findings of a recent study published by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) titled “A Study of the Sustainability Implications of Differing Urban and Suburban Locations in Chicago.” In addition to Leung, the panel will include sustainability experts from Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture, the College of Architecture at the Illinois Institute of Technology, and CTBUH.
