SOM Design Partner Gary Haney Elected to AIA College of Fellows

On Friday, February 10th, the American Institute of Architects (AIA) announced that SOM Design Partner Gary Haney has been elected to its College of Fellows, a prestigious honor awarded to members who have made significant contributions to the profession.

The fellowship program, founded in 1952, is one of the highest honors the AIA can bestow upon a member. Election to fellowship not only recognizes the achievements of architects as individuals, but also their significant contribution to architecture and society on a national level. Out of a total AIA membership of over 90,000, approximately 3 percent of members are recognized as fellows.

As a Design Partner in SOM’s New York office, Gary Haney employs a research-intensive, performance-driven design approach. He has designed buildings of great scale and complexity including Al Hamra Tower in Kuwait City; Al Sharq Tower in Dubai; the LEED® Gold-certified U.S. Census Bureau Headquarters in Suitland, Maryland; the BBVA Operations Center in Mexico City; and PSAC II, a state-of-the-art public safety answering center in New York City.
